Valentine’s Day

A day of love, I guess … and sometimes, a day of hurt. For some, it is a time to appreciate the one they love. For others, it quietly becomes a space to mourn what they lost, who they lost, or what they once hoped to have. It can also simply be a day to rest, to reflect, or even to indulge in the world unfolding on our screens.

Sometimes, I wonder what it felt like when Valentine’s Day was first declared; long associated with Saint Valentine, a symbol of love, sacrifice, and devotion. But over time, the world reshaped it. Culture changed it. People changed it. Life gave it new meanings.

And today, this is what Valentine’s Day has become; a mirror of the human heart. Love, loss, gratitude, longing healing … all existing in one space.

I wonder if it will change again. Maybe it will. Because we do.

Just thinking ….
